MONUMENT INSCRIPTIONS:

"IHS - Out of the depths I have called to thee O Lord,
Lord hear my voice.
Pray for the soul of George Swarbrick, plasterer,
who died on the 11th May 1859, aged 51 years.
A kind benefactor and sincere friend,
he was much respected by all who knew him...
On their souls, sweet Jesus, have mercy."

DEATH NOTICE:
"On Wednesday last, Mr. George Swarbrick, plasterer, Chapel-yard, Friargate, universally respected, aged 51"
(From The Preston Chronicle, Saturday, 14 May 1859)

 

BURIAL RECORDS:
George Swarbrick, age 51, of Chapel Yard, Preston, was buried on 15 May 1859, in private grave C-349 in the RC section of Preston Cemetery. His was the 1st of 8 interments.

 

NOTES:
1: The private grave at Preston Cemetery was purchased by George's brother William, who was acting as the Administrator of his estate. The other 7 burials are George's brother Thomas and members of his family.
