1: The above is based on the GRO indexes and on various Census returns.
2: I'm a bit unsure of the two Samuels listed here. I have a GRO index reference for the birth of Samuel in the 3rd quarter of 1852 but all later evidence points to Samuel having been born in 1858. I can only conclude that there were two and that the first died in infancy - however, I can not find a death entry for the first Samuel or a birth entry for the second!
